CherylPorter.com new graphic concept
This website's new graphic appearance is the result of the creativity and skill of Cheryl Porter Graphics Studio.
Guido Torelli, an electronics and informatics engeneer, has been applying his professional knowledge in the graphics field and developed several automatic graphic tools.

For every banner, you can observe each picture in its origin to understand the dramatic applied image tranformation process. Please move the mouse pointer over any banner to see the original before the image trasformation.

Cheryl Porter Graphics Studio is the principal designer of Cheryl Porter's posters, CD covers and other promotional material.

So now, move the mouse over the pictures to see Before & After!!!

Fig.1
The subject's color and saturation have been adapted to the superimposed background; careful effort has been spent to enhance the face illumination and contrast.

Here and in many of the following images, the hair masking has been performed by a software tool developed by Guido Torelli.

Fig.2
Careful effort has been spent to enhance the subject's complexion, particularly with the bright reflexes on the skin surface, back, chest, and the golden shirt.
Fig.3
In this image dark tones required major color an enhancement as with the poor green shades of the dress, wich also required some serious color shift performed in LAB colorspace.
Fig.4
This picture had a focus problem, here not very noticeable due to the low resolution of the resized image. The detail level of the image has been improved applying three consecutive USMs with different parameters.
Then, the subject's color has been adapted to the very colorful, saturated background.
Fig.5
In this case the dark tones again required major color enhancement as with the poor green shades of the dress, wich also required some serious color shift performed in LAB colorspace.

Fig.6
This may be the most interesting case, because the subject's color did not match the new background. An algorithmic process developed by Guido Torelli has been applied in order to capture the “color modes” from the new background and then transfer that color information to the subject. Please note, this is not just a “color monochrome” or a “sepia tone”, because the most of the original color information is still retained, and you can still see some of the chromatic variations. This method yields more natural blending with the new background.

Fig.7
The subject's color has been modified to match the very colorful and saturated background.
Careful effort has been spent to enhance the copper tones found on the dark shirt, as on the necklace and the shawl.

Fig.8
This background was actually derived from an original, blue version. The color has been shifted in the LAB colorspace, thus retaining all the chromatic variations found in the original.

Fig.9
The busy background has been blurred in order to give more attention towards the subject.
A technique, developed by Guido Torelli, has been applied wich avoids unwanted “halos” and shadows surrounding the subject. This ghost-like effect is a common occurrence due the application of a strong blur effect.
